Summer Term 2020
This weekly work is not meant to mirror the volume and organisation of work which children would normally be experiencing in school. You will find work from your child’s teacher to help your child continue learning at home. All of the staff would like to thank you for your ongoing support at this difficult time.
Nursery
You can help your child to learn through the little things you do with them, for example:
- everyday conversations
- make-believe play
- games with numbers or letters
- reading together
- involving them in the things you are doing, such as household chores, and talking with them about it
Find ideas for new things you can try at Hungry Little Minds.
Teachers would still like children to continue with Accelerated Reader, Lexia, Fiction Express and TT Rockstars.

I’m delighted to inform you about a new service we’re using to support your child’s maths education. The creators of Times Tables Rock Stars have produced a platform for boosting addition and subtraction skills, called NumBots.
Big Difference
NumBots is an online game and playing little and often will significantly improve your child’s recall and understanding of number bonds and addition and subtraction facts. These are critical foundations in maths so we are excited by the impact NumBots will have.
Logging In
Your child can log in using their TT Rock Stars user name and password. Just go to https://play.numbots.com/?#/account/school-login/23296
Important: please don’t allow siblings, friends or family to answer for them but do support your child if they’re stuck.
Little and often
In order to get the best out of NumBots children should regularly play for short bursts so we would ask you to give them 5 minutes on Saturdays and 5 minutes on Sundays (or more!)
Game Types
- Story Mode – the emphasis is on learning the ideas and concepts behind addition and subtraction so it features more diagrams, shapes and question styles.
- Challenge Mode – the emphasis is more on speed of recall of key facts, like number bonds to 10, doubling small numbers or adding & taking away in your head.
Mental Health and Emotional Support
Please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions or comments.
